Ashley Langworthy, Principal + Founder
Ashley is the founder and principal of Miasto, bringing more than 20 years of experience spanning park management, planning, economics, landscape architecture, and creative placemaking. She works with public agencies, nonprofits, designers, and development partners to create vibrant, well-managed, and financially sustainable parks and public spaces.
Her work focuses on translating the vision for parks and public spaces into implementation through strategies for programming and activation, operations and maintenance, governance, funding, and long-term stewardship. Drawing on both hands-on park management experience and a background in planning and design, Ashley helps ensure that public spaces are not only welcoming and well-used, but also practical to operate and maintain over time.
Prior to founding Miasto, Ashley was Vice President at Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, where her experience included managing Salesforce Park in San Francisco and Fair Park in Dallas. She previously worked as a designer at SWA Group and Hart Howerton. Ashley holds a Master in Urban Planning from Harvard University and a BA in Economics from Tufts University. She is an AICP-certified planner, a licensed landscape architect, and an active member of the Urban Land Institute.
Origins of the name Miasto
Miasto means city or town in Polish. Ashley chose this name for the firm to celebrate her Polish heritage. Her boisterous, close-knit, striving, and civic-minded immediate and extended family has always encouraged her to be a positive contributor to her community, and to keep reaching and pushing to make an impact. Her family origins, coupled with her strong commitment to improving cities and civic life, cemented Ashley's desire to start Miasto.
